Tip of the week

Write It Down

Planning, Control, Supplier, Execution

Many of the issues, conflict and arguments between customer and supplier during a Self Build project can be avoided by one simple rule – Write It Down. It is so easy to make decisions on the fly, discuss a requirement over the phone or just assume it will be OK. Not so – and documenting what you require, what was agreed on a phone call or at a meeting, the specification of a product or finish, etc. etc. is so important in any area of project management.
You will thank yourself time and time again right through your project if you maintain that simple rule and record each and every decision. Remember to share the documented records with your Suppliers immediately to ensure that everyone is on the same page, literally.
